Dunmallard, 2 January 2003

(called 'Dunmallet' in Wainwright's 'Outlying Fells)'

It's raining again. The walk starts in the car park at Pooley Bridge where the River Eamont is high and fast flowing.

The summit of this hill (once a hill fort) is completely wooded, and even if it had had been sunny,we still couldn't have seen the lake.

The Eamont flowing out of Ullswater on a murky afternoon.
