'From the Fjells to the Fjords' - a walk
through Norway
HOVDUNGO

We took the ferry from Flam to Aurland

Flam from the fjord

Aurlandfjord

The ferry dropped us off at Aurland and continued its voyage to Gudvangen

Then we went on a walk to Hovdungo, a collection of shepherd's cabins at the end of a ridge overlooking Aurland. The first part was up a surfaced track.....

....with wonderful views back to Flam.

The final part of the climb rose very steeply through woods, past the 'very worn' sign mentioned in our walk notes.

The climb was worth it for the superb views of the fjord.

Aurland beneath our feet

Down in Aurland, the evening sky from the balcony of our hotel room

Mist drifts across the fjord the next morning

We are waiting on the quay at Aurland for the ferry that will take us the first part of our journey to Bergen.
