L'Ofre and the Pilgrims Steps

This walk explores the rugged mountains of the Alfabia ridge which dominates the Soller valley. The walk began by skirting the Embalse de Cuber, the largest reservoir on the island. The path ascended to the Col de L'Ofre and from there to the summit of L'Ofre itself at 1091 metres (3578 feet). Unfortunately for us at this point the mist descended for the one and only time during our holiday and we had no views whatsoever! The descent was through the Es Barranc gorge, following a stone path known as the Pilgrims Steps, part of a pilgrims' route from Soller to the monastery at Lluc. After refreshments at the cafe at the little village of Biniaraix we walked into Soller and caught the tram back to the port.
