FELLBARROW ROUND FROM LOWESWATER 9 December 2004

We drove through the vale of Lorton on a chill and hazy December morning, with lovely lighting effects caused by the low sun. Here Mellbreak is seen from the north.

Our walk started from Loweswater

The route was initially up the fell road to Mosser. Across the lake the foxhounds were in full cry. We later heard they caught two foxes, but perhaps not the one we saw slinking away over Fellbarrow.

The lack of any wind combined with the bright sunshine made it surprisingly warm work climbing Darling Fell.
