LONGLANDS FELL and BRAE FELL - 20 April 2005

A dull and windy day for this 'back o'Skiddaw' walk which started by the hamlet of Longlands.

On the way up Longlands Fell. You don't need sunshine to make interesting lighting effects.

The top of Longlands Fell, Skiddaw on the horizon.

The nature of the terrain round here. Little Scafell is the objective. It's getting very windy (and that's not just the dried apricots!)

Heading north to Brae Fell.

On the top of Brae Fell looking out across the Cumbrian plain to the Solway.

From the summit cairn on Brae Fell to Binsey.

The ford at Charleton Wath, where Bill Birkett says it is almost impossible to keep your feet dry....

....but Jonathan seems to manage to, despite all the recent rain.

Heading back to Longlands with Skiddaw and the Ullock Pike/Long Side ridge on the skyline.
