NORWAY - Page 1

At the end of July 2002 we stayed at Venabu to the south of the Rondane mountains around 250 kilometres north of Oslo. The mountains rise from barren plateaux with several peaks above 2000 metres. The area, which became Norway's first national park in 1962 is home to the remnants of Europe's last native herd of mountain reindeer. Unfortunately we didn't see any, although reindeer fillet was on the menu a couple of nights!
